Friends' Book Sales are currently suspended due to construction. You can still purchase from the Friends' Sales Table on the main level of the library!

Friends of the Avon-Washington Township Public Library

Purpose:

The purpose of this organization shall be to maintain an association of persons interested in libraries; to focus public attention on the library; to stimulate the use of the library’s resources and services; to receive and encourage gifts, endowments, and bequests to the library; to support and cooperate with the library in developing library services and facilities for the community; and to support the freedom to read as expressed in the American Library Association Bill of Rights.

Fundraising:

The Friends of the Library conducts fundraisers such as an on-going sale table and book sales twice a month on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays (except for November and December when one sale is held).  The funds raised support programs at the library and purchase items that the library needs. Meeting room signs, prizes and snacks for reading programs, and flowers for the entry pots are examples of the fundraising.  Also, the funds help purchase books for a book discussion group, provide stipends for performers at family events and speakers at staff in-service meetings, and pay for the publication of the library newsletter and e-nouncements online.  In addition, a contribution is made to the library endowment fund annually.

Membership:

Now is a great time to join the Friends of the Library by filling out an application form and paying the annual dues.  You can join at the following levels:  Individual - $10.00, Family - $15.00, Contributing - $25.00, and Benefactor - $75.00. Memberships are tax deductible.

The application form also provides a place for volunteering to sort books, work on the silent auction, help with the book sale, or serve on the Friends’ board.  Please consider helping our Avon library in any way you can.  Applications for the Friends of the Library are available at the circulation desk or by clicking here to download an application form.

Donations:

We need your donations for future book sales!!!  Books for children and adults, books on CD, music CDs, and DVDs are all gladly accepted.  Spring cleaning can be any time!  Next time you clean off your bookshelves or entertainment racks, please consider a donation to the library.  Donations are tax deductible.
